The Past.....

1978, Honda CB200, license plate XU-51-97
My first motorcycle was a Honda CB200 two cilinder. On this bike I got
my very first drivers-licence. I bought the bike from Rens B. who had bought
a haevyer bike. That motor was a strange looking machine, with liquid cooling
but without a kick-starter. I didn't like it. Then....
On that CB200 we had many adventures en remarkeble things happend. But,
in '79 or '80 the '200' was traded-in for something else.

1980, Honda CB550 K3 licence plate XZ-37-08
My second motorcycle was almost a Kawasaki Z550. But that didn't happen.
Beside that Kawasaki stood a very beautifull Honda CB550 K3. An big
four-cilinder engine with extra foot-steps.
With this bike I had years of fun. Once I had to sell it, but my parents
bought it back for me. In the end, after a small accident, I had to straiten
the frame. After that the bike always feld a bit "wobbly" Soon after that
I sold the bike and bought a second hand CB650. That was only two months
with me, before I had to sell it for financial reasons.

1985, Kawasaki CSR 305, rental
In the "motorless" age I did think about motorcycles, but selden rode one.
I did rent a motor once, just for one day. At 'roadrunner motoren' I found
a Kawasaki CSR305, a small one cilinder chopper. And of course, the twins
wanted to see what daddy brougt home that day, and they had to try it out.

1991, Honda CB400 F licence plate MD-35-SP
In 1990 I got a job in Amersfoort, wich is about 20 km from Ede. At that
moment a car was totaly not possible, but a cheap bike would just fit.
I found at Gijs van Dijk's shop in Ede, now
(Jan Dokter Motors), a
Honda CB400 f, complete with side- and topcases.
After a complete failure in Amersfoort I got a job in Bennekom,
just near Ede. And on a dark and stormy november-night I nearly rode into two
young children, who where crossing the road with their bicycles. I could
avoid them, but landed on the asphalt. Crashbar's, good clothing and a
good helmet helpt to limit
the damage. Later, augustus 1992, I had a car, so the CB400 f was
absolete, and was sold.

2001, Suzuki LS 650, rental MV-84-HY
In 2001 I rented another bike. This time at
De Valkenier
in Barneveld. This was a very fat one cilinder, who produced a very deep sound
It drove to the south, to 's Hertogenbosch en Weert, en took
the 'middenpeel' route home. It feld so good, that one month later I rented
the same bike again. This time I took my youngest son Martin with me.
We visited Almere, Leystad and Kampen, before we drove home across the
Veluwe. When you rent a bike, you can arrange almost everything,
except the weather. This second time it rained almost the whole day,
sometimes a litte, sometimes enough to get realy wet.

.... and Now

2006, Honda CX 500, license plate MB-22-KS
And now ? Now I have a Honda CX500 parked behind the home. It was cheap,
and only intendent for the holidays. But in the meantime it rode a lot of
kilometres, also outside the holidays. And it is very reliable. All in
all a very enjoyable motor.
